Itinerary -


Day 01: Delhi - Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatisation)


Board the morning flight to reach Leh. Arrive at Leh and transfer to hotel/guest house and take a complete rest. This relaxation is essential for becoming accustomed to the climate. Overnight stay at the hotel/guesthouse.


Day 02: Leh - Shey - Thiksey - Hemis


Today, we shall go for a sightseeing tour and will visit primeval monasteries. We will visit Shey Gompa, which used to be the summer palace of the emperors of Ladakh; Thiksey Gompa, which is one of the most beautiful monasteries of Ladakh and Hemis Monastery, which is one of the largest and most popular monasteries in Ladakh.


Day 03: Leh – Likir


Today, we will visit Likir. On arriving, refreshments and lunch which include the local soup – Thupka will be served. Post lunch, we shall visit Likir Gompa, which is home to around 120 Monks. After sightseeing, return to the hotel and overnight stay.


Day 04: Likir – Yangthang


Our day will begin with trekking from Likir to Yangthang, which is one of the most beautiful trails around. This trek is done in order to get the muscle strengthen. During the trek, two low passes Phobe LA which is 3700m and Charatse La 3800m will also be crossed. Overnight stay in Camp or at a guest house in Yangthang.


Day 05: Yangthang – Hemis Shukpachan (3600 mts)


We shall be trekking from Yangthang to Shukpachan today. On the way, we will also visit the Ridzong monastery, which is surrounded by beautiful hills. After crossing Tsermangchan La (3750 meters) and Lago La (3750 meters) we will descend towards the Hemis Shukpachan. Overnight stay in the tent.


Day 06: Hemis Shukpachan Temisgang


Today, we shall walk through Hemis Shukpachan, which is believed to be a memorable trek as the region is beautiful. On reaching Temisgang, take rest at the guest house. In the evening we will visit Avalokitesvara and other Red temples which are famous amongst the local. Enjoy your dinner in the camp/guest house and take proper rest.


Day 07: Temisgang – Lamayuru – Leh


Post breakfast, we shall go for visiting Lamayuru and Alchi monasteries. The two monasteries are rich in elaborate wood carvings done in Baroque style. After this visit, we will return to Leh in a coach to Leh. Overnight stay at the hotel at Leh.


Day 08: Leh - Delhi


Depart for airport to board flight to Delhi.

About Indus Valley


Walk into the pre-historic era from where it is believed civilization began in India. The Indus Valley Trek divulges the ancient territories secluded within a scenic landscape, where one side towers the snow clad peaks and the other side is dotted with cattle farms. Further ahead it enters a rocky and barren land. The trek showcases most of the ancient monasteries and remote villages. After some acclimatization at Leh, the Indus Valley Trek heads to Likir followed by Yangthang after crossing Phobe La and Charatse La, wherefrom one can capture the stunning views of the entire valley. Furthe, trek ascends to Temisgang passing through Ridzong Monastery in Hemis Shukpachan. The trail then winds down to Lamayuru and Alchi and hereby to Leh. Thus, the Indus Valley Trek in Ladakh is one of the major attractions that even attract the Buddhist pilgrims from South-Asian countries as well as from Korea, Japan and China.

Best Time to Visit


The best time to visit Indus Valley trek is between June and mid-October. At this time, Ladakh is the weather remains pleasant as the average temperature ranges about 20-30°C during the daytime. The month of July and August are quite apt to visit Ladakh as during this time Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways open for private vehicles.


Where is Indus Valley?


The Indus Valley is contiguous with territories of Pakistan, Afghanistan and China. It is the largest valley of Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir state of India and is formed Indus River, which flows towards Pakistan. The valley covers the regions of Leh, Skardu and the vast glaciers-covered beyond area extending into China's territory. This valley consists of extensively spread undulating lands.

By Air:

Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is the airport at Leh city. From this airport flights to Delhi and few other destinations in India operate daily. Connect in Delhi for other destinations.


By Road
:

Leh is connected to the rest of India by two highways: NH 1D (Srinagar-Leh Highway) and Manali-Leh Highway. The Srinagar-Leh Highway passes through Kargil and Zoji-La (3505m), whereas Leh-Manali Highway passes through famed Rohtang Pass and Tanglang La (5325m). It also passes through the upland desert plateau of Rupshu whose altitude ranges from 3,660 m to 4,570 m.
